How to Help
Sponsor a Child
Hope for the Children of Haiti operates a children’s home for over 90 orphans and vulnerable children in Bolosse, one of the most impoverished sections of Port-au-Prince.
Please help us by sponsoring a child so that they can grow in a gentle, loving environment. It takes about $200 per month for us to care for each child. You can choose to partially or fully support a child by choosing a desired level of support for each month.
Once you become a Sponsor, we will pair a child in need with you so that you can help us care for them and monitor the child’s progress over time. You will receive a short bio of your child in a welcome packet once you join as a monthly sponsor.
Donate to HFC
In addition to our children’s home, our school, the Marion G. Austin School, provides K to 13th grade education for our children as well as over 400 children in the Bolosse neighborhood. We also provide a robust feeding program to the community to promote healthy nutrition and prevent hunger.
Items We Need
We always need the following items:
- Clothing and shoes
- Peanut butter
- Tylenol and Ibuprofen
- Bandages and other medical supplies
- School supplies, including science and music materials for preschool and primary school
- Office supplies
Volunteer and Internship Opportunities
Volunteer
We have opportunities to volunteer in our Natick, MA office helping with things like office work and organizing. We also need volunteers to help out every fall at our annual fundraising gala. Please contact us if you are interested.
Internship
Internships are generally one year assignments for those who have a college degree or significant skill to offer. The person’s skills as well as the current needs of the organization will shape what the internship looks like. We will work with you to find an area where your skills can be put to good use. Areas such as management, international development, business, pastoral care, and child development can all be useful.
Visit Haiti
Through out the year, volunteer groups and potential donors visit our children’s home in Haiti. If you would like to experience Haiti, we can work with you to plan a trip that will suit your group.
